Unexpected behavior of In Laws

I looked at Shourya, and he sighed me to relax. But how can I? Till now though I am their daughter-in-law, they treated me as their daughter. But now, what if they reject me?

“Diya, please control yourself. I will talk to mom and dad. Relax baby” Shourya said as usual in his concern-filled tone.

“Diya, come here,” mom said, and I went to her with fear.

I sat on the floor on my knees, keeping on my head in her lap.

“Mom, I didn’t do anything wrong. I have never done anything that spoils your reputation in society. I always tried to be a good daughter-in-law and wife. My past is always interfering with my present. I don’t know how to prove my innocence. But, whatever decision you take about me, I will obey that. If you think I am a black mark to your family, I am ready to go far away from you all” I said with tea
