Chapter 46

“Listen to me,” I began in a stern voice. “If I tell you half of what’s been happening, you are going to faint right where you are.” I paused for a second before I continued.

“I know this was bound to happen sooner or later… You know mummy was a committed member of the church, and someone in that church must’ve prayed and seen something…but I’m not surprised. This is December, and I believe in a short while, everything will be over.” 

“It better be over soon,” she mumbled and proceeded to ask me whether I’d had breakfast.”

“Baby, listen, I’d go and see Pastor Alozie one of these days because I’d soon be in need of his prayers. I had to kill… I mean, I had to deliver two fellow initiates some time ago because-” 

She wanted to scream but soon closed her mouth to prevent any sound from coming out of it.

“You did what?” she whispered harshly.

“Listen to me, everything would be fine. I did it because they were going to kill innocent people in Abraham’s
