Chapter 72
On the day the last surgical operation was to take place, Bam-Bam and Pastor Alozie were given fifteen minutes to talk with me before I was reeled to the theatre.
“I’ll come around as soon as I’m through from work,” Bam-Bam whispered as she held my hands.
I looked at her smooth face and thought of how my abdomen had been scarred with stitches. The psychologist had advised me to keep recollecting happy thoughts and memories before the surgical operation commenced. This made me smile whenever I lay on the bed and remembered how Bam-Bam had reacted when she learned of the attempt on my life.
If everyone in the hospital were shaken by her ranting when she arrived at the hospital that fateful day, I was an exception. This was because, at that moment, I didn’t see her ranting, but I saw our late mother shouting. The fifteen minutes were running out, and I heard a short prayer from Pastor Alozie before he pulled her gently from my side.
