Chapter 76
I couldn’t remember the last time I entered the church or any other church as I walked towards the altar with the aid of the crutch. The chairs were neatly arranged, with a cool breeze blowing through the windows. I knew Bam-Bam was happy for several reasons – one of which was staying away from her hectic work schedule.
It was as if she knew what I desired when she left me alone at the altar and stood at the entrance. Slowly, I got on my knees, dropped my crutch beside me, and asked God for forgiveness. I also thanked him for preserving my life.
I looked at the golden-painted pulpit and remembered the

ring, which was still stuck on the little finger on my right hand, while I heard faint sounds of Bam-Bam sniffing from where she stood.
The next morning, Bam-Bam put on her sunglasses and hurried to the road to hail a cab when she was certain I’d managed to lock the doors and bolt the iron protectors to her satisfaction.
