While we waited for Maira to come down, my mother expressed concern that she wasn't sleeping well and just staying at the mansion doing nothing. I tried to sidestep the request, saying she probably wouldn't accept the invitation, even though I liked her because she was my sister.
My mother offered to talk to Maira and explain the situation. I eventually agreed. I needed a personal assistant, and I had already noticed that Maira was a very sensible and intelligent person.
"It will be just temporary, dear," my mom added. "Only until Ryan decides what he'll do with his life from now on."
My mother didn't say it explicitly, but she implied that Maira also needed to make some decisions, even if not stated clearly.
To my dismay, Maira accepted the responsibility, and now we were both in London, accompanied by my CFO at Anglo-X and my lawyer. When everyone was ready, we met in the hotel lobby and headed to the event venue.
