The solution to the deadlock was clear, but I wasn't willing to insist on Rachel once again, hoping that she would understand what the best option was at that moment. Nevertheless, I touched Rachel's arm to reiterate the proposal.

"I agree with Rachel, Lindsay," I said. "You shouldn't go back to that apartment, and indeed, you have a choice."

Lindsay looked at me with a confused expression, so Rachel explained more clearly what we were trying to convey.

"We received a job offer from Enrico," she said. "He needs two people to help him with his father's care and offered us these positions."

"That's right, Lindsay," I quickly confirmed. "Since the job requires us to stay in the same house as my father, if you both accept, it's a good option under the circumstances."

There was a noticeable transformation in Lindsay's face. Where there was once sadness and despair, there was now joy and vitality.
