I knew that women when they were pregnant were more sensitive and that things tended to take on a much greater proportion when you were in this state.
"My parents abandoned me. That's what happened! " she said, already losing control again.
"How old are you, Virginia? " I asked.
"I'll be twenty"two on Sunday " she answered with visible reluctance, making a gesture of disregard "I know what you mean, you don't have to throw that in my face.”
"So, if you know that you are old enough to live on your own, explain the situation to me, " I asked, sitting down next to her "You have my full support, but I need to know what's going on.”
I wanted her to talk to me because only then could I try to understand the reason for all her despair because that was exactly the word to describe the feeling Virginia seemed to be feeling since she read the letter.
