Chapter 39
POV: Jaejun
My eyes were heavy. It had been four days since I'd been switching between my apartment and the hospital, switching between days and nights.
To be honest, I couldn't sleep in my own bed or rest at home while I knew that Grandma Hyelim was in critical condition.
And when she woke up two days ago, only to fall unconscious again, it was terrifying. I had to listen to all those machines going haywire. Hyun-Suk wasn't with me at that moment, but I wasn't alone. Jackson and Rini were with me that day, and when I saw doctors rushing into the room and checking Grandma's vitals, they held me as my body went into panic mode.
Hyun-Suk arrived hours later; I was already feeling drained. Grandma was stable, but she needed oxygen support, and her heart rate was low.
He hugged me and apologized for not being there to shield me from the painful reality, but no one could prevent something like that from happening. No one but fate.
