Chapter 69. Too Late

“I see that you have managed to earn my son’s full trust. It seems like he listens to you alone.” Liam’s mother says this when Liam and Mitch disappear from our sight.

“There must be a very good reason why an intelligent man like Liam would choose to trust a total stranger over his own mother and family at large, don’t you think so, Mrs. Adams?” I fired back.

“Congratulations, Lynda Rose! You have undergone a great transformation since the last time I saw you. Back then, you always bowed down whenever I talked to you, but now you have the boldness to even talk back at me.” She said, and I don’t think that congratulation is genuine. She must be murmuring denumerable curses inside of me.

“Thank you, and time changes everything, Mrs. Adams. Even you changed a great deal. I mean, I never knew this heartless side of yours back then. Now you are even working against your own son. What a change, Mrs. Adams. I am sorry, though. I cannot congratulate you for that.” I state.
