Chapter 36. You’ll Have to Leave
Hannah’s POV
I was stunned, unable to utter a word.
Steal? Me? How, why, when?
I must have heard wrong. There’s no way that’s what I could have heard.
“What?” I managed to mutter, hoping I had imagined things.
Matt’s eyes glowed with rage. “Have you been stealing from us?” he repeated in a loud tone.
I shivered in fear.
“Don’t stand there looking at me like an idiot! Answer me, you thief!” he continued to yell.
I was entirely lost for words, not believing I could even be accused of stealing. “I…I haven’t. I can…” I stammered before he cut me off.
“Shut up, just shut up! My parents let you work for them. They let you into their home. They fed you. They’ve been nothing but good to you. This is how you pay them back by stealing from them?!”
I didn’t steal. I’ve never stolen anything in my life. I wanted to scream those words, but my mouth refused to move.
Matt was fuming, his eyes almost popping out of their socke
