Chapter 37. A Proposal
Blake’s POV
The kitchen was filled with the aroma of Petula’s cooking. She stood over the stove doing her thing while I vented about Robert.
“He is retired; he handed the company to me, yet he will not let me handle things my way. He doesn’t trust my judgment even when I always end up right. When people retire, they go on vacations, play golf, and enjoy life, not torment their child.”
Petula chuckled. “Give the man a break. He’s been working for more than twenty years. It’s not exactly easy to sit around, doing nothing.”
I rolled my eyes. “But he let Dan do as he pleased.”
“Says who? They would have argued a lot, but Dan usually let him win. He liked to appease your father. But you, you’re cut from the same cloth as Robert. That’s why you never get along.”
“We are not,” I stated firmly.
