Chapter 6. Speak of the Devil
Just like it had started, everything came to an end. Our attackers were gone within a blink. Almost like they were never here, only they had left evidence of their presence that it was impossible to think otherwise.
“Garett… Garett, are you okay?”
“Yes, ma’am. I’m fine. Are you hurt, ma’am?”
“No, I’m f…”
My sentence was cut short when he turned to face me.
“Oh my goodness, Garett, your nose is bleeding.”
He also realized at that moment as he used his hands to confirm my statement.
I could hear incoming sirens as I hurried out of the car. Garrett had also opened the driver’s door and got out.
His nose was still bleeding, and he was using the back of his palm to back up against it.
Two police patrol cars stopped before us immediately.
The first officer hurried toward us. “Are you okay?”
“Yes, but my driver is hurt, and he needs medical attention.”
“I’ll radio the ambulance.” The second officer chirped in.
