Chapter 9. The Night Held Promises
Liam’s POV
What’s the worst part about protecting rich people? Listening to them have their meaningless conversations.
I watched the rich princess laugh with her reunited friend. Two of them, all proper and perfect.
When she finally bade the young lady farewell, I rolled my eyes in relief.
In the car, she kept grinning from ear to ear like a little girl who just bought her favorite toy.
“Why are you smiling like a clown?” I asked her.
Immediately her happy countenance disappeared along with the smile. “Can’t you ever keep shut for a second?” she said in irritation.
“Yet you were all chatty minutes ago because you met someone you knew years ago. And now you’re grinning like a little girl with fresh candy.”
One thing I love about my job is that I can say anything and not get fired because, well, I’m good at it.
She shot me a glare and added in a dismissing tone, “I guess you’ve never known what it’s like to be happy.”
