Chapter 121. The Things We Do for Love

When Louise turned on the lights, I froze.

I had been here a million times in eleven years, a few times the subject of interest, but I had never felt such raw fear like I did now.

I had never had this urge to run and run and not look back.

Before today, it was just another bunker dungeon, dark and eerie, but after what Dean did to Harper last night, I might as well have just stepped into a horror movie.

Louise turned halfway in and raised her eyebrow in question. I took a deep breath, and resumed walking.

In here, Dean could not hurt the people I love. And in a few months he would be unable to hurt anyone at all.

I stopped before the man who was hanging from the ceiling on a lifting chain. But unlike what that sick bastard, Dean, would have done, this man was hanging right side up, and was fully clothed.

Both his hands were raised above his head and bound to the chains from the concrete roof, and his toes could almost touch the floor.
