I expected Tara to get mad, but she simply laughed. “Even if that someone is his daughter?” 

My spine stiffened, my mind returning to the story Sean told us about the Gyehna's pregnant daughter, whose boyfriend was one of the Conor bikers I shot that night I got the bullet wound.

I turned to Tara now, “Why would she want to help us when I killed her man?”

“She was one of our girls.”

“What?” 

Tara nodded. “She was one of the Velaro girls, and it beats me why I didn’t remember her. She walked into my office on her own this morning.”

“I don’t understand any of this,” I shook my head. “Why would the Gyehna’s daughter, a man who could afford to buy the entire country and pay in cash, want to join an escort organization?”

“Freedom, and her own power.”

“Then she got knocked up by a biker who lives off his family?” 

“The Conors are still millionaires,” Tara smiled. “And I guess she fell in love. Us women can be suckers like that.
