Chapter 249. Uncertain Future

A night out in a city that doesn't know your sins has its perks. 

First, you can observe your scenery in a completely carefree manner because you know no one is watching you with malicious intent like internet gossip. 

You could hold the hands of the man you loved without shame and easily blend in with the crowd of other elegant couples, and when those couples commented on how good you both looked together, you knew there were no subtexts, and they were being completely honest.

So by the time our car rolled up the cobbled driveway, tires whispering against slush, I was grinning from ear to ear and ready for the night. 

Colt turned then, and edged his index finger towards me as I blinked in nervous excitement.

“You look lovely, Sonsy.” He said in that deep, seductive voice, sinking his finger into the lace trimming of my matching burgundy gloves, just above my elbow, his gloved hand moving in a caress across my bare skin beneath the gloves.
