Chapter 81

“You heard me. Why don’t you make love to him and get it out of your system.” Those were the words Clayton wanted to say. He was still so mad about the stare and gaze he picked up yesterday, and the best way he thought he could let it out was to tell her to go have sex with Mark.

Ruth knew what it was all about. Mark was right when he said he caught Clay staring at her. What she was so eager to explain to him, he first raised the conversation.

“Don’t act surprised, Ruth. I saw you… I saw the looks you had in your eyes for him.” Clay tossed the file on the glass conference table and stood up to her.

“No… Clay… I wasn’t. He just looked like somebody I recognized.” That was what Ruth went with. She had no idea why she lied or why she was lying to him. The perfect time to let him know the truth was now, yet she lied to his face.

“Somebody you know?” He shook his head and chuckled. “What is it you find attractive in him? Huh?”
