Chapter 14. Lies
Tiana had made a good effort to leave the hotel before first light just like she had planned. She got to her aunt’s place before nine in the morning. When she rang the doorbell and her aunty who was always a morning person was shocked to see her standing by the door so early.
“Willow!” Her aunt exclaimed pulling her into a hug. “Did you sleep on the streets? How come you are here so early?”
Tiana smiled at the use of her middle name which her aunt was so fond of —just like her mother.
“Aunt, it’s just two hours from the city and its barely nine!” She retorted as her aunt drew her into the house.
“You must be hungry, luckily I had miscalculated my measurements the pancakes are more than enough,” Her aunt sang as she pulled Tiana to the kitchen where their breakfast table was.
Tiana almost giggled at her aunt’s excitement. It was obvious the woman was happy to see her.
