Author’s POV

Zoey sat down, still squealing in a low tone as she fanned herself.

“I need an emergency outfit change. Dad, you should’ve invited him to our house—not here.”

“I didn’t invite him,” Robert replied.

The two women froze.

His wife narrowed her eyes at him.

“Then why is he here? Why would someone like him show up at our daughter’s engagement without an invitation?”

“He… came because someone reached out to him.”

His wife frowned. “Who?”

“Charlotte.”

Zoey froze. “She WHAT?! That’s not possible. I sent hundreds of emails and flooded his DMs too. He never replied to me! How could he suddenly decide to honor her invitation?”

“She used an anonymous account, so he had no idea what she looked like. I guess she was lucky to be picked as the fan he responded to.”

“Well, that makes more sense.”

“She also told him she was being falsely accused and humiliated. And—apparently—he believes her.”
