Prologue
Lizzy stood looking out the window as she saw her husband drive away. She didn’t want him to leave just yet; she wanted him to stay close to her.
Lizzy turned around and walked to the mirror to observe how her eyes had changed from a brilliant blue to a dark black.
She looked down at her hand and saw the knife her husband had given her earlier. She was heartbroken because she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
She walked back into her chamber and sat down, staring at the knife that had usually been used to torture most of the victims her husband had kidnapped, but this time was different since her husband had given her the responsibility of killing someone.
She sat with no expression on her face, knowing that her husband would return soon and that he would be upset if she didn’t do exactly what he wanted her to do.
Lizzy stood up, leaving the knife behind, and opened her room door, walked out of it, and into the corridor. It was so silent that you could only hear her footsteps.
She walked straight to the basement, putting her hand on the door handle and opening the cellar door.
She could feel the wind blow through her and the coolness of the room.
She walked gently inside, trying not to disturb the individuals her husband had kidnapped. She stood in front of one of the persons her husband had kidnapped, then in the blink of an eye, she rushed to get water and poured it squarely on the sleeping girl’s face.
When the girl awoke, she looked around and saw Lizzy standing in front of her. She stepped back, terrified of what Lizzy may do to her.
“Hello, Vera, rise and shine,” Lizzy said, beaming up at her.
“Are you still alive, Lizzy?” Vera spoke fearfully.
“Are you planning on seeing someone else?” Lizzy asked as she approached her. “Well, Vera, I’m glad you’re awake for the last bit.”
Vera was perplexed as she looked around.
“Where am I, Lizzy? Please let me go,” Vera begged.
“Let you go?” Lizzy said angrily, waking the others. “I begged you to let me go, and instead, you let me go to my death, but this time, it will be your death,” Lizzy laughed.
Vera’s heart began to beat faster as she realized the girl in front of her wasn’t the Lizzy she knew, but someone else. She was scared after seeing her eyes turn red. She tried to move back, but it was difficult due to the chain that was on her hands, preventing her from fleeing.
“Please don’t do this, Lizzy,” Vera pleaded after being slashed by the vampire.
“Why won’t I? I have prayed all these days to make you pay for all the trouble you’ve caused. I bore all you did to me, but it wasn’t enough, and you tried to kill me?” Lizzy expressed her displeasure, her eyes crimson.
“It was a mistake, Lizzy,” Vera cried out to her. “Please just let me go.”
Lizzy stood there watching her as she was chained to the wall, wanting to kill her, make her suffer, and feel the pain she had felt a long time ago.
Lizzy stood there watching Vera as she screamed out to her. Was she going to do it – kill Vera, like her husband had asked her to? Lizzy stood there just staring, wanting to sever Vera’s throat, but something stopped her.
The cellar door opened just as a hand wrapped around Lizzy’s body, and she felt herself losing control as she relaxed into the touch.
“I think I asked you to finish her off?” the voice said softly into her ear.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t do it,” Lizzy replied.
The hand moved away from her, turning her around to face him.
“You’re my wife, Lizzy, and it’s against the law for a wife to defy her husband, right?”
Lizzy nodded as she rested her head on his chest. She always felt relaxed and calm when she was with him, and she always felt comfortable around him.
“I’m sorry, honey, please forgive me,” Lizzy begged.
Her husband smiled and lifted his head to look at her.
“I’m so glad I made you mine. From the first day I saw you, I knew you belonged to me. Therefore, if you want to be happy, you need to take every enemy away from you.”
Lizzy smiled and nodded, turning to face Vera, who had been watching everything, and her heart began to beat as she begged Lizzy.
“Please, Lizzy, I swear you’ll be fine.”
Lizzy walked behind her, sniffing her as her eyes turned back to crimson, her fangs erupting as she moved closer to Vera’s neck.
“Sorry,” she said as she bit into Vera’s neck, causing her to scream.
Lizzy was unable to control her taste as her husband stood there watching.
Vera’s scream began to fade as her eyes closed, and she felt her sight going dimmer and darker. She was helpless to scream or move. Her body collapsed to the ground, her eyes wide but not moving.
Lizzy stood up and walked into her husband’s arms, which were already extended, welcoming her.
“You did well, sweetheart,” he said, licking off the last of Vera’s blood.
“You did perfectly, my wife,” he murmured as he turned around, lifting her up bride-style.
“Let’s go to sleep.”
He walked away, leaving the dead on the floor, and entered the room, placing Lizzy on the bed and laying down next to her, her head on his shoulder as he talked.
“Sleep now, wife. Tomorrow is a new day.”
Lizzy’s eyes started closing. Smiling softly to herself, she could remember how her life turned this way, but for the record, she loved it.
She whispered a soft ‘I love you’ to him, and he smiled, kissing her on the cheek, putting off the light, and they both fell into a deep sleep.
