What the hell is he doing here?
Am I dreaming?
I darted a glance at Olive and Emma, needing confirmation that I wasn’t hallucinating.
Emma was fanning herself so aggressively I thought she might pass out, and Olive—dear lord—Olive’s jaw was hanging open so wide she looked ready to drool, I fear a fly might enter in there.
I blinked once, twice, as if my eyes were playing a cruel trick. But no—it was him.
Getting out of the pool, droplets of water cascaded down his shoulders, catching the lantern light like tiny shards of glass. His height and body looked majestic.
His hair was shorter than before, freshly cut, and slicked back with his hand as he raked it through. He looked… different.

In a good way.
It’s like I have been captivated by his beauty anew! Like the version of him I wasn’t ready to meet.
