Chapter 90. Like a Drug
“I— I’m… sorry,” I stutter.
“No. Don’t be. To me, that’s freedom. I’m going to transfer some funds to your account so you can buy Lupin Group in your own name.”
“But I… I don’t want to buy it in my name.”
“Why?”
“To be honest um… it has to be in your name. My reputation isn’t healthy now. It may not be bad like Zeath’s, but I feel: if I buy the company in my name, it would only cause more damage and strife. Plus, I don’t want to put myself out there again.”
“That makes sense.” Christopher nods. Then, after a while, he smiles. “Now onto the dessert?”
When the servers bring the dessert, I know Christopher is eager to know my take on them, so I quickly tastes them.
“This one is good too,” I tell him. But, in truth, his talk of break up may have burned by taste buds.
“Really? You like it?” he asks like a kid delighted to have pleased his momma.
“Yeah. You outdid yourself on this one. What exactly can you not do, Mr. Su Pointe?”
