Fallon’s POV

“They’re coming back,” she announced after another vision.

It had taken a while to calm the kids down, especially Inara, who was shaking with fear from her vision. Elle and I exchanged yet another glance despite our attempts to hide how worried we were.

We emptied every toy in the house and tried all their favorite games. Not like they couldn’t sense what we were trying to do; it still worked for the most part until Inara’s new vision.

“Come on, kids, let’s go to your room,” I immediately announced. The last thing I wanted was for them to see Darius and the others in bad shape.

All sorts of thoughts ran through my mind. What happened? What exactly went wrong? Did our enemies catch up with them? Do we have to leave again?

I was tired of the life of running and hiding. All I wanted was for all of us to leave this cursed republic and all its bad memories behind. I heard them running before they even made it to the house.
