Chapter 50
Alessandro’s POV
The car purred beneath me, its engine humming with the same frustration crawling underneath my skin. I sat back in the leather seat, my jaw tight. My eyes caught sight of the city flickering by in different shades of gold and black. It was beautiful, if I was being honest, but I didn’t need beautiful. I needed a distraction, and even the skyline wasn’t enough. It wasn’t the gala either, neither was it the enemy I knew would be waiting for me the moment I arrived.
It was her.
My hands were still tingling—aching, in fact—from the way I held her back at the mansion.
One second she was stumbling backwards and towards a broken spine, and the next, she was in my arms. And then... fuck.
She felt heavenly, and nothing could deny that.
She was soft in all the right places. Her dress hugged her like a second skin, and I hated how much I noticed it. I hated how my fingers had slid down without thinking, how I’d leaned in—close enough
