My throat closed and I forced a lump down it. I sat down on the edge of my bed and stared at the note, willing my body to stay still, but I knew that was unlikely. My hands trembled and I could feel my whole body follow suit. I turned the note over, hoping for something else—a mark, a name, a signature—but there was really nothing obvious. Then I saw it. Looking like initials but disguised to be just strokes of lines, and I began to panic more.
Who could it possibly be this time? Someone I already met? Someone I know? Someone new? What game is this now?
This wasn’t just a warning or just a threat, it was a reminder—and the scary part was knowing that they had been here, inside my room, and worse still, they were under the same roof with me.
I stood up and began checking everything. I searched the room for anything—small cameras, listening devices, anything that would make sense of how someone had gotten this close.
