Simon’s POV

I was glad to see my sister and my nephew were home. Mum needed her, and I knew she didn’t have much time left and wanted it to be the best it could be.

As I made my way over to them, I couldn’t help but think about our mother. She was struggling, and I knew she wanted to spend as much time with Evelyn and Ethan as possible. It was a bittersweet thought, knowing that her time was running out.

“Evelyn, it’s good to see you’re settling in,” I said as I walked in. The stench of bleach and air freshener hit me the second I entered. I pinched my nose and smiled to myself. My sister had always been a clean freak, and while I tried my best to keep the place tidy for my mother, I also had my beta duties to attend to.
