Chapter 13. Pieces of the Puzzle
Evelyn’s POV
“Ethan, that’s very sweet of you to try to make your grandmother feel better,” I said, forcing a smile onto my face. “But why did you cut your finger? I’ve told you before never to play with knives. They are dangerous and can cause a lot of problems.” I told him firmly.
“But mummy, I saw her crying, and I knew she was sad, so I thought I could help her feel better. I remembered what Griffin told me about how our blood can help people feel better when hurt. Mummy, I miss Griffin. Will we see him again soon?”
I felt a chill run down my spine as I heard those words. What did Griffin mean by “our blood”? And why was he telling Ethan that it could help people feel better? I was even more determined that Griffin would not be seeing my son. He made me mad to think he had been up to something behind my back, and he would probably be furious to know I had taken Ethan and disappeared into the night.
