She smiled softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “I know. I feel it too. But my family needs me right now. They are counting on me,” she replied. I nodded, recognizing the strength in her words.

“I’ll walk you back,” I offered her, and she shook her head. It was as if she were afraid to be seen with me.

“I can go myself, thank you.” and with that she scrambled up, pulling her clothes back on and ran off in the opposite direction. Not even a glance back at me or a goodbye.

She left me feeling stunned by the sudden shift in her demeanour. One moment we were lost in a moment of passion, and the next, she was slipping through my fingers again like sand. A deep breath filled my lungs as I tried to process everything that had just happened.
