Sofia’s POV

“You’re proposing to her?”

“Yeah… it felt like it was time for the next step.” I swallowed the lump in my throat and smiled.

“I’m sure she’ll like it.” I didn’t know what else to say. He looked relieved hearing that.

Sterling stared at me for a long period with a questioning gaze. I was buried in my thoughts while the boys carried on eating. After finishing breakfast, Sterling and Leo head off to work. I strolled around the hallways mindlessly, attempting to familiarize myself with the surroundings. After a while, I end up in the garden at the back and spot Steel there by the fountain. I saw him having fun. I haven’t had a quiet minute to myself in a long time, but this seems as near as it gets. A pure sense of calmness. What is left to think is if this is the calm before a storm.
