Avery’s POV

“You are not allowed to be here! Go back to your homes; this is not a charity organization but a corporate business group.”

“Dear villagers, as the daughter of the village head, I am begging you all to go to your homes and stop causing commotion here.”

I scoffed as I saw Belle’s and Vanessa’s futile attempt to calm the crowd of almost fifty, consisting of men, women, youths, and children.

An angry man stepped forward from the crowd and faced Vanessa. “What do you have to offer apart from being the daughter of that greedy village head? Stop hiding behind the guards and talk reasonably about why we are being discriminated against in our own village!”

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Anita asked, facing me.

“Are you sure you want to?” I asked, returning the question back to her.

She winked. “Ever ready.”
