Chapter 57. Controlling

Avery’s POV

A faint feeling of regret filled my heart immediately I heard him mention the contract. It’s been a while since I even thought about the contract; it felt really strange hearing about it again.

I cleared my throat. “Yeah, I understand.”

We ate the rest of our meals in silence before Ethan left for a meeting with Gavin. I planned to meet up with Estella, Marcella, or even Anita, but they were not available. I was informed Anita left in the morning with her husband, Jeffery, while Estella and Marcella went out for a stroll in the village.

Feeling disgruntled, I returned to the bedroom and decided to take a short nap. I wish I had something to busy myself with. Maybe my jewelry business.

The journey back home was a better experience compared to when we had come to the village. There were no potholes, and I spent quality time with Ethan. We talked randomly, about the events of the ground breaking ceremony, the kids, and some people we met
