“Don’t try to change the topic. Why don’t you rest?” I asked, meeting his gaze.

“Well, I want to take care of you and our sons; that’s why I need to make more money.” He replied, his expression playful.

I burst into laughter. “Are you kidding me? Even if you stopped working for the rest of your life, you have money to last till our great grandchildren!” I couldn’t stop laughing until I felt his intense gaze on me, and that’s when I realized what I had said. I almost banged my head on the desk out of embarrassment. Why did I have to talk about great-grandchildren like some lovey-dovey couple?

I stood up from his lap and gave him a smile in a bid to cover the awkwardness. “I brought lunch.” I set out the lunchbox on his table and sat on the chair facing him. “You should eat. As you can see, I made a smoothie, chicken soup, rice, and some fresh fr—”
