Amelia’s POV

I rose to my feet.

I wasn’t sure why. I didn’t need to. But something about sitting while Adrian stood before me felt…weird. Maybe it was just awkwardness. Maybe it was the fact that he always seemed larger than life, and looking up at him only emphasized that. Maybe it was because I just usually got a lot less composed whenever he was around.

Liam had his head down on the table, his arms folded beneath him. For a second, I thought he was just resting, but then I caught the steady rhythm of his breathing.

Oh. He was asleep.

Adrian let out a slow breath, his gaze moving between me and Liam. Then, with a tone so dry it could’ve been sandpaper, he said, “Crazy night, huh?”

I huffed a quiet laugh. “Yeah. Apparently, Liam doesn’t joke when it comes to karaoke.”

Adrian’s lips twitched, but the amusement didn’t quite reach his eyes. His attention stayed on Liam for a second longer before shifting back to me.
