“So you mean Nina told the Elders about us?” I asked Magnus again for the fifth time today.
Despite the fact he had explained everything that happened in the court room, I still couldn’t bring myself to believe him—believe that Nina would go that far. Even if it wasn’t for me, she should have cared about her father and brother’s reputation. She shouldn’t have stomp so low to humiliate them like that.
Was that how much she hated our relationship?

My throat felt tight so I threw down the cup of coffee in my hand and slammed the glass on the table.
“So you admitted to it?” I asked even though I already knew his answers.
“Were you expecting me to deny it?” He spat, his voice tight.
Of course, he would never deny it. They had planned on claiming me publicly before now, and I must confess that Nina only hastened things.
