“Disgusting.”

The tone in Esmerelda’s voice is gruff and frightening, and it’s the last thing I want to hear right now.

“Are you seriously parading this… bitch in heat… around our castle?” she continues.

I slink back a little behind Orla, happy she’s the one Esmerelda is addressing. I should have known she’d call me names. In heat… wait.

Oh, no.

I guess she can smell me and what we were just doing. And I admit, that is gross. I’m glad I’m not a wolf, and I don’t have to smell that on someone.

“I’ll ignore that,” Orla says, her voice strong and steady. “The Alpha King will be furious that you’ve disparaged his bride. Now, move aside. We need to get back to the lady’s room.”
