I was totally speechless. Out of unbelief of what my eyes were seeing or rather what my body was feeling, I was rooted to the spot. I needed someone to tell me I wasn’t dreaming about this, that this wasn’t a phantom pain.
Mitchell recovered first.
“Simeon, you’re on your feet. You’re standing.” He began to cry. “You’re truly standing. This is a miracle.”
I was still in shock. My eyes zeroed on Drake’s crying face.
“Babe, you’re standing, and you’re not leaning on me. You really are standing. Come closer,” he said, giving some distance between us.
I moved finally and walked to him in carefully measured steps like a child learning to walk. Justin screamed.
I was so excited that I began walking over the place. I tried running, successful, but then I felt a bit light-headed and some pain, but I was too engrossed in my excitement to give it thought. Just as I was about to regain my breath, I lost consciousness just in time to hear Drake yelp.
