Chapter 39. Matteo's Disappearance

The man returned with a man who scowled at all of them. “Matteo left four hours ago. We don’t have any information about his whereabouts.” He banged the door shut in Freddie’s face before he could ask him questions.

He tried Matteo’s number, but it was switched off. Worried, Freddie returned to the car. “He left four hours ago. I didn’t like their attitude. There’s something going on that they are trying hard to cover up.”

“Do you think Matteo is in their custody here?” asked Amelia, but Freddie shook his head.

“I don’t think so. They aren’t fools to keep him here when I threatened to involve the cops. Besides, his car isn’t here.”

“Then should we involve the police?” asked a clueless Seth.

“Ms. Mitchell, it’s better we drop you home. We will look around for him first before involving the cops,” said Freddie. Amelia sighed since she had no other option left.

“Fine, but please update me.” They dropped her off and drove off towards their latest cust
