Chapter 57. Without a Goodbye

Brooklyn woke up at 6 o’clock in the morning and panicked since Brandon would be here to get her in half an hour and she wasn’t at all ready. Quickly freshening up, she pulled on whatever clothes she could lay her hands on over her pajamas. Therefore, in her haste, she hardly noticed the gold chain that Nikolas had clasped around her neck the night before. At last, she was done and opened her door just in time to see Brandon standing at her door with Bruce, ready to knock.

“Ready?” Brooklyn nodded, opening the door wider for Bruce to enter her room to get her luggage.

Brandon and Bruce wheeled the luggage away, but Brooklyn’s heart was breaking and she looked around for the last time. Tears pooled in her eyes at the thought that she could never come back here after today. This was the only place in the whole world that felt like home to her! She picked up the small notebook on the desk and, with tears falling from her eyes, she wrote a small goodbye note for Nikolas.
