Chapter 61. Missing Nikolas Immensely
“I want my freedom, Brand. I don’t want to be indebted to Ryder for everything,” said Brooklyn in a stern voice. She wasn’t giving in at all.
“He wouldn’t mind. Brooks. You’re misunderstanding him,” said Brandon. He was blind to his friend’s negative ways. It made her feel frustrated. Why was he adamant on dragging her along?
“I’m not stopping you from leaving Brand, but I won’t leave this apartment. My life is here,” she said stubbornly. Brandon gave her a frustrated look. She was his only family and he was in a dilemma. Having to leave her again made her feel guilty.
“You know I can’t leave you alone here and go,” said Brandon in frustration, massaging his temples in frustration. This was the only chance he had to a bright future and he couldn’t let this go. If only Brooklyn would agree.
“Why not? I used to live all alone in Chicago. You were hardly at home. It doesn’t matter, Brand. I’ll take up a job nearby and when I have enough money, I’ll enroll myself
