Chapter 92. Connecting to His Mom
“She remembers you alright, but I do not know if she has accepted you as her son. She hasn’t answered any of our questions yet,” said Mrs. Holmes, leading him to Doris’s room. Opening the door, she smiled at Doris.
“Where’s that boy?” asked a grumpy Doris.
“Which boy, Doris?” asked Mrs. Holmes with a cheerful smile on her face, gesturing to Nikolas to wait at the door.
“My baby boy, who else? The one who grew up so suddenly,” she said, still grumpy.
Mrs. Holmes smiled triumphantly, and so did Nikolas.
“He’s here to see you, Doris. Do you want to talk to him?” she asked Doris gently, and she nodded.
Nikolas slowly walked into the room, his eyes twinkling with eagerness. Doris looked up at him and smiled.
“Haven’t you grown too tall for your age?” she asked him.
Nikolas chuckled, hearing her give him such an unusual greeting.
“I’m twenty-nine, mama,” he reminded her, making her eyes widen with surprise.
