Chapter 91. She Couldn't Recognize Him
An anxious Nikolas followed Sandra to the second floor, where she introduced him to Mrs. Holmes, who was his mom’s caregiver.
“Please come this way, Mr. Ardolf. You’re lucky, as Doris just woke up for her dinner,” said Mrs. Holmes.
They walked down the long corridor to the room at the far end while Nikolas noted the well-maintained, clean and nicely decorated corridor. Apparently, the center seemed to take care of the wellbeing of the patients. With all the caregivers rushing to and from the rooms, it was a busy place indeed!
“Doris is the oldest patient in our center. She has gone through so much in her life that we want to fulfil her only wish. We want to make her happy,” said Mrs. Holmes.
“I’m grateful to you for giving me an opportunity to meet my mom,” said Nikolas, his voice choking with emotion.
Mrs. Holmes pushed open a door and ushered him inside. Nikolas’s eyes went to the frail woman who lay on the bed with her eyes closed.
