Watching Nadine walk out of my room feels like a dagger plunging straight into my chest. 

The air around me is suffocating, as the realization settles in—she and Asher have been sneaking around behind my back, betraying me while I was out working to build a future I thought included her. 

My hands clenched into fists, my nails digging into my palms, but the pain was nothing compared to the searing fire raging inside me.  

Fury erupts within me like an uncontainable storm. Without thinking, I storm out of my room, and standing nearby is Samantha.  

She’s watching me, with an unreadable expression, but something about the way she stands still makes my gut twist. I narrowed my eyes on her. Had she been expecting this? Was this her doing all along?
