Chapter 39
The tremor slowly came to an end, and the base was finally stable again. Grimhold got up from where he had been lying. He groaned in pain, placing his palm on his head, then asked, “Where did she go?”
He walked to where Gretel had been standing and saw both Emmanuel and Lily lying unconscious on the floor. He took out a pair of medicated glasses from his pocket, put them on, and looked around the area where Gretel had stood.
His eyes stopped moving when they met something that caught his attention. He knelt down and picked up a hair strand that had fallen from Gretel before she vanished. The hair strand still glowed brightly. Grimhold smiled and said, “This will do just fine.”
