Georgia’s POV

On day one, Cara told me everything.

Ennio saved Cara from Uncle Manny. I should have known, and the truth cut me deeper than I imagined. Ennio assaulted my uncle because he found out that not only was he hurting Cara, but he had abused me in the past.

The truth hit like a bomb, and when Cara told me of how happy she was that Ennio enrolled her in college, I felt devastated. Pacheco came to the house regularly, and when I asked about Ennio, he only said that ‘the boss was busy.’

Over the days, the more I spent time with my sister, and in our little bungalow, I missed home. I missed Ennio. 

Day in, day out, I had Ennio’s phone with me. Gazing at it, going through the cringy photos of Ash, I sometimes laughed when I saw Ennio trying to avoid the camera. I had a feeling he didn’t do well with social media.
