Chapter 127. Searching for a Remedy

Genevieve’s POV

The day was finally here. A day I thought would never come. I’ve waited all my life for this day and it felt surreal. I straightened my uniform with a smile on my face. I tried to hide my nerves but it was obvious from the way my hands trembled. The door suddenly opened and my mum walked in.

"Are you ready?" she asked with a smile. I nodded in response. She walked towards me and held my hands. I looked up at her curiously as she gently caressed my fingers.

"I want you to know that whatever happens today, I will always be here for you. Nothing will change between us at all," she said.

"Is that your way of telling me not to get my hopes up in case I get disappointed?" I asked calmly.

She sighed. "I just don’t want you to get hurt like I was. Your dad and I tried to find a cure too in the past but we weren’t successful."
