Chapter 148

ADLER

"ADLER, LOOK OUT!" Rune yelled,

And he was raising a droopy head just in time for a whole body to throw himself into him, sending both of them flying across the room and behind a wall as the gunfire persisted, with bullets relentlessly zipping through the air.

"What the fuck is wrong with you losing your composure in a gunfire?!" Priest demanded, his voice rising above the gunshots, as Adler, who was still gasping for breath, wondered if his knockout was personal, for he wasn't sure if the pain on his shoulder was a result of a sprain or a bullet searing through his arm.

"Priest, is he alright?" Rune's voice echoed from a distant corner of the room.

"Unfortunately," Priest hissed

Four months after her death yet, nothing changed. The darkness surrounding him increased each day, and a weight so heavy it was hard to make a move; instead, he was becoming this bag of shutting down load Rune and Salvatore couldn't carry around.
