Chapter 3

Haley’s POV

I decided to get ready before she started calling me again but the only thing was that she would be yelling and cursing so much and I was in no mood. I would not be changing my outfit cause we would not be going far. I just needed to apply make-up even though I was still beautiful without them.

I walked back to my room and applied the make up even though I made it simple and not exaggerated. I took my black handbag, kept my phone and card in it.

I needed to go and inform mom that I was going out for a while because if I didn't she would make a fuse over it.

I opened her bedroom door and pipped to see whether she was in there or not. I saw she was reading a book. I smiled when I remembered how we would read a book for hours then discuss it. She loves reading, which I inherited from her.

"What are you reading?"

"A book." She said sarcastically.

There is not a single day that goes without her not being sarcastic. I just shook my head and she turned to face me.

"Tell me what you want already so that I can go back to read my book."

"Mom, I am now getting jealous of these books. You love them so much and also prefer them to me as if they are your kids. Smh your child mama and not them." I said faking tears and lowered my head.

'You can be a very good actor idiot' my subconscious yelled at me making me roll my eyes.

"I love you Haley so much. You know you are my life right?" She said in a whisper and in tears.

'Look what your acting has done! I take back my words, it seems when you act so much people cry out.'

I knew my subconscious was right therefore I moved closer to comfort her.

"Mom. I know I was just joking. You are my life too and I don't think I can forgive myself if anything happens to you."

"Baby, nothing will happen to me. Have faith. I am sure I will not be loving this world soon, not until I see you getting married and I carry my grandchildren."

At that I blushed. She really has weird dreams. I do not even have a boyfriend yet here she is talking about me getting married and having kids.

"Mama." She laughed at me.

"So what brought you here child."

"I am leaving to go and buy some groceries in the mall then hangout with Peige but I won't be late."

"Okay dear. I know you will find some guy who you will be interested in."

"Mama."

She laughed hard. I was happy seeing her happy because it is not always where you see her this happy. I kissed her forehead.

"Bye. I will be heading out right now."

"Okay and please take care of yourself."

"I will mama."

I walked out of our small house and decided to inform Peige that I had already left the house. I dialed her number.

"Hello."

"Tell me stupid ass."

"Ooh please do not start."

"Start what?" She asked innocently, making me roll my eyes. She is such a drama queen!

"Nothing. I have gotten out of the house. Where should we meet?"

"Ooh. Maybe at the mall or where do you want us to meet?"

"I do not know. It is fine by me. Bye. See you later."

"Okay. Bye."

The mall was not far away therefore I decided to walk as I looked at the neighborhood and people.

I walked alongside the road with a smile on my face, jumping up and down. I might be twenty years old but I am still a child. I greeted everyone I met even if I did not know them. I felt someone looking at me but I shrugged it off cause I did not want someone to ruin my moods and vibes.

I looked across the road and the ice cream parlor caught my eyes. When I saw the ice cream, my face brightened just like a child's face would. I love ice cream so much. I decided to cross to the other side and get one. There were not many people even though it was just outside the park.

I walked over to the old lady who was looking at me while smiling and I smiled back at her.

"Hae miss. What can I make for you?"

"Please do not call me Miss. My name is Haley so call me by my name. Ooh yeah, can you mix all the flavors for me? Thank you."

She looked shocked and amazed by what I said but nonetheless nodded her head. She went to make the ice cream when I waited patiently. I looked at the park and saw children playing. Some were alone, others both parents while others just one. A girl who was playing with mad caught my eyes. She was so carefree and seemed to not be aware of anything going on in this cruel world. She seemed eight and was also so happy even though she was playing alone. That made me smile. She seemed not to care about any other person in the park but herself.

"Miss…Haley…" I heard a voice calling me and that is when I broke my eyes from looking at the small beautiful child. Will I ever be a mom?

"Sorry."

"It is okay. There is your order. It will be 20 dollars.

I nodded and took out the cash from the hand bag. I gave it to her as I took my ice cream. I walked out of the parlor and walked while eating the ice cream. I let out a moan because it was so sweet and tasty. And I'm sure from today that I will always come for an ice cream.

I was not concentrating on where I was going until I bumped into a wall. Wait a wall in the middle of the street? It was somebody's hard chest. My ice cream was now on the floor and it angered me so much.

"You asshole." I snapped.

"No cursing in front of the kid." A deep voice said. It was so cold. I decided to look at the imbecile who ruined my ice cream.

I looked up and found that he was staring at me. His green eyes were so beautiful that I was lost in them. We broke eye contact and I felt his eyes roaming on every part of my body. It made me shiver. His hair was dark and curly but not much. His tee-shirt tighter each part of his outlining how muscular he was. Damn! How can one be so perfect!!

I heard a chuckle and I looked back at this handsome face.

"You just ruined my ice cream and you will have to buy me one."

"What! Keep dreaming bitch."

"Ooh yeah I know I am a bitch but thanks for telling me by the way."

I saw his eyes flash into darkness just like the first time. He made a cold expression which would terrify any one but not me.

"You glaring at me and putting on a cold face won't change the fact that you will have to buy me an ice cream. I am not afraid of you so don't think that that face will work on me."

That seemed to shock him but he hid it very well.

"Big brother, she is so beautiful." A soft voice said and it caught my attention. That is when I saw he was holding the girl I was playing alone in the park. Gosh, he had even told me not to curse in front of the kid. That made me to feel as if I was so dumb but I could not show him that.

I kneeled in front of the kid.

"Hae kiddo. Am Haley. What is your name?"

"Am Elsa."

"Ooh. You are now my little Princess Elsa."

"Really?"

"Yes sweetie."

"But why am I your princess?"

"Because you are so beautiful and look just like a princess so you are my princess."

"Big brother, I am Haley's little princess. Am so happy brother." She told her brother who was still glaring at me. Am sure if it were not for this little kid here, I would be six feet under.

"Really?" He asked his eyes never leaving mine.

"Yes big brother. Brother please do not fight again with her. She is now my friend."

Friend?

"What? She is now your friend?"

"No! Haley, will you be my best friend."

"Sure princess." I punched her cheeks and she giggled loudly.

She warms my heart.

"Hurray! I have an adult best friend!" She screamed and we both smiled her way.

He was so cute while he smiled. I stood up.

"So? Will you buy me an ice cream or should I tell your little sister here that you are making her best friend angry!" I whispered in his ears.

He glared at me but I rolled my eyes.

"So childish." He mumbled

"Hell yeah." I answered back and he realized that he said that out loud.

"Fine. I cannot believe a stranger has me wrapped in her fingers."

I giggled.

We walked to the ice cream parlor and the old woman looked shocked when she saw me but I gave her a sweet innocent smile. He bought me an ice cream. Shit! I am supposed to meet Peige. I am in deep trouble!

"Thank you for the ice cream but I will have to go now before somebody kills me."

"I hope they kill you."

"Hei."

He just laughed at me.

"Princess, I will have to leave."

"But why can't you stay with me?"

"Uuhm."

I could not find any excuse. I looked at his brother for assistance but he shrugged me off. Aaaargh. I hate him!

"Uhm. I am supposed to meet up with someone and if I do not go right now. She will skin me alive and am sure you do not want that. Right?"

"Yes."

"Okay. Bye princess."

"Bye Haley."
