May lingered for a moment longer, as if she wanted to say more but decided against it. Ehr gaze flickered to the window, her lips pressed into a thin line, and then she stepped back. “Get some rest. I will bring you something to eat in a bit,” She said gently before leaving the room, closing the door softly behind her.
I stood there in the quiet, the weight of everything crashing down on me. The secret I now carried—the guns, Alan’s affair, even my own forced silence—felt like a heavy chain aroun dmy neck.
I sank onto the bed, the mattress creaking beneath me. The room was not as luxurious as the one I had slept in the first night I was here, or back at the dark alpha’s mansion or Zach’s villa.
But at least it was better than what it was like at the orphanage. Nothing would make me want to go back there, I swear on my life. That place had so much trauma for me and I hated it with every fiber of my being.
