I sank into the couch, clutching a throw pillow as if it could shield me from the onslaught of emotions creeping up. My hands trembled, and my mind raced with every possible scenario. 

The more I thought about it, the heavier the weight on my chest grew. 

Why did I even leave the room earlier? Why could I not have just stayed hidden like Alan had suggested? Why did I have to answer the door, that was a bad idea and it was so dumb of me. 

Now I’d put myself in danger. As for May and her family, they would be fine. They were not the ones that Storm hated and wanted dead. They were not the ones who were the reason that the pack was in an uproar right now, or the ones who the dark alpha wanted. 

They were safe. It was me that I had to worry about. I knew that they were worried about their secrets, but they had nothing to worry about. I was not going to tell anyone, who did I even have to tell?
