The cabin smelled of blood and sweat. Splintered wood littered the floor, the wreckage of their clash still scattered like bones across the room. Mara sat against the wall, arms wrapped tight around her knees, her throat raw from screaming.

The First paced like a caged beast, knife flashing as he stalked from one side of the cabin to the other. His shirt was torn, his chest streaked with blood, his eyes wild with sleepless rage.
